Trying to grab a pie of the largely untapped patient record management systems space, a Vadodara-based technology solutions start-up PurpleDocs is now planning to spread its wings to other parts of India beyond Gujarat.

PurpleDocs, an healthcare records management startup from Vadodara, with more than 60 hospitals as customers across Gujarat, has raised investment from KellyGamma, Lead Angels and few other HNIs from healthcare world.

PurpleDocs, which provides cloud-based healthcare records to hospitals, has offices in prominent cities in Gujarat through tie-ups with 60 hospitals. The company is now planning to enter new markets such as NCR, Karnataka and Maharashtra next year.

Gujarat-based PurpleDocs, a healthcare records management startup, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from investors including KellyGamma, Lead Angels and a few high net-worth individuals (HNIs).

Founded in December 2010 by Deepak Gupta and Pooja Gupta, PurpleDocs helps hospitals manage their patients via its tech platform. It is present in Surat, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and its headquartered city of Vadodara. It has over 60 hospitals as clients. The startup will put the money toward tech expansion and growing its presence in the national capital region (NCR), as well as the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.

Small towns have their own set of problems, the biggest being the lack of awareness among the healthcare community on how technology can help them. A close second is an inertia to change. Thirdly, infrastructure and adequate human talent to bring out a tech revolution in healthcare are not readily available. This is where PurpleDocs (Vadodara) are trying to make a difference. They could potentially be sitting on a big opportunity.
